The Komjanc Alessio Winery
On the road that rises from the church Santa Maria del Preval towards San Floriano del Collio the first winery you meet is Alessio Komjanc's winery.
Located in a panoramic position, where you can see a natural amphitheater made of hills and mountains (Matajur, Canin and Krn).
The winery has been founded in the Seventies by Alessio, when he left his father's farm to set up a farm on his own specialized in winegrowing. He built house and wine cellar and has been one of the first in San Floriano del Collio to understand the importance of directly selling his wine, therefore Alessio offered to his customers a quality wine produced and bottled in Collio by a family run business already in 1973.
A new impulse
Since 2000 all four Alessio's sons have settled in the farm giving new force and gaining a better specialization in each production step: from the vineyards to the wine business.
The Winery
In 2005-2006 it took place the renovation of the wine cellar with its 750 square meter of covered surface. Here the Komjanc family vinifies only the grapes produced in their own vineyards and all phases, from growing grapes, to production and sales are taken care of by the member of the family. They want to produce the best wine, because they are the first consumers of their wine.

Tradition
The family winery was founded by Alessio, whose great-grandparents produced wine in Collio since the end of nineteenth century. Now he is supported by four of his sons: Beniamin, Roberto, Patrik and Ivan. All phases in wine and olive oil production are followed by the Komjanc family, who is united in values and tradition and looks to the future with enthusiasm, aiming at producing high quality wines and olive oil in respect to their territory.
Responsibility
From their 24 hectar vineyards only the very best grapes are vinificated. Therefore Komjanc Alessio's wines are the result of care and commitment we daily reserve to our vineyards. Collio is a region of excellent white wines such as our Ribolla Gialla – still and sparkling; Friulano, Malvasia Istriana, Picolit and our international Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Traminer Aromatico. We also produce red characteristic and well structured wines such as Schioppettino, Pinot Nero, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. A limited production is reserved to extravergine olive oil produced from Alessio's own olive trees.
Culture
The Komjanc family also devote itself passionately to welcoming wine tourists interested in knowing its wine culture, its land and its history. All the year through the winery welcomes small and big groups for wine tastings with typical products, for vineyard visits and of course for the direct sale of wine and olive oil. We believe that our wines purely express our local terroir and the spirit of the place. For this reason, since 2007 we have been organizing cultural events (art – historic and photographic exhibitions, book presentations and laboratories) whose main feature is being expression of this country.
